PRESS: Transport Ministry seeks for multibillion aid to industry

MOSCOW, Apr 27 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Transport Ministry has asked the government to grant a multibillion support to the industry, Kommersant business daily reported on Monday citing a letter sent by Transport Minister Yevgeny Ditrikh to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

Unless the situation changes, Russia’s air companies will lose 25 million passengers, and their traffic will fall 80% on the year in January–June, the daily reported.

Russian Railways has estimated income from cargo deliveries falling by 131.5 billion rubles in 2020 under an unfavorable scenario. River transport will unlikely start the navigation season if the situation persists until the end of April.

The ministry has suggested introducing delays in payroll tax payments for transport companies, a 6-month delay in value-added tax (VAT) payments, a 6-month moratorium on servicing loans and leasing payments, releasing contractors of guarantees for state contracts, and temporary cancellation of dividend payments so that the money could be used for investment.
